1 Operating Elements and Connections
1 Terminal for the control channel output to connect
a signal device or another additional unit
The terminal is placed at ground with activated
control channel (also see fig. 2 and chapter 4.2.3)
2 Ground terminal for the control channel output
3 Selector switch for the polarity of the video signal
lower switch position
for standard picture transmission
upper switch position
for encoded picture transmission with negative
video signal polarity (see chapter 4.3.3)
4 Yellow phono jack for the video signal output, e. g.
for the connection of a monitor
5 Phono jacks for the audio signal output:
white jack for the left channel (audio A)
red jack for the right channel (audio B)
6 Jack for the voltage supply of 7 30 V (150 mA
at 12 V);
centre contact = positive pole;
required low voltage plug 5.5/2.1 mm (outside/
inside diameter)
7 Receiving antenna with 2.5 dB gain; do not
scratch
8 Control to correct the video level for the output (4);
the video level is set according to standard (1 Vpp)
and can be changed to 0.5 1.5 Vpp
9 Control to adjust the dwell time (1 5 s) of a re-
ceiving channel with activated switching mode
10 Rotary switch to adjust the receiving channel

2 Safety Notes
This receiving module corresponds to the EC direc-
tive 89/336/EEC for electromagnetic compatibility.
The module is only suitable for indoor use. Protect
it against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and excessive temperatures (admissible
ambient temperature range
-
10 °C up to +55 °C).
Only use a dry, soft cloth or a brush for cleaning,
never use chemicals or water.
If the module is used for purposes other than orig-
inally intended, if it is not correctly connected or
operated or not repaired in a qualified way, there is
no liability for possible damage.
If the module is to be put out of operation defini-
tively, it must be taken to a local recycling plant for
disposal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Applications
The receiving module AVM-250R is especially de-
signed for the installation into a housing and serves
for wireless audio and video transmission in combina-
tion with a 2.4 GHz transmitter of the “AV-...” series of
MONACOR. For setting up a wireless video transmis-
sion system merely a video camera and a monitor are
additionally required.
4 Setting into Operation
4.1 Placing of transmitter and receiver
Practical experience has shown that an optimum
reception is achieved when placing the units at a
height of minimum 1.5 m to 2 m above the ground.
Prior to final mounting, a trial run is recommended as
the transmission quality can be substantially changed
by displacing the transmitter and the receiver by a few
centimetres only.
4.2 Connecting the units
Prior to connecting units, switch them off first. Always
connect the power supply for the receiving module
last of all units. Prior to changing existing connections
first switch off the power supply for the receiving
module and the connected units.
4.2.1 Surveillance monitor
1) Connect the video input of the monitor via a 75
coaxial cable to the yellow phono jack (4).
2) For audio transmission connect the audio input of
the monitor via a screened audio cable to the white
phono jack (5) and in case of stereo sound addi-
tionally to the red jack.
4.2.2 TV set
Instead of a monitor, a TV set can be connected as
well. Depending on the existing connection jacks at
the TV set an adapter may be required (e. g. VC-162
of MONACOR).
If no video and audio input is provided at the TV
set, the receiving module can be connected via an RF
modulator (e. g. VAM-3 of MONACOR) to the antenna
jack of the TVset.
4.2.3 Signal device or another additional unit
If the transmitter is equipped with a control channel, it
is possible to activate an optical or acoustical signal
device or another additional unit connected to the
AVM-250R (e. g. video recorder for automatic start of
a recording) via this channel. The connection is made
via the terminals (1 + 2) and is shown in fig. 2 where
the unit to be connected is symbolized by R1. Con-
nection wires with a cross section of 0.14 to 1 mm
2
may be used. Press the corresponding orange clip to
insert or pull out a wire. Strip the connection wires
approx. 10 mm.
